It’s clear from any angle, and the jingle-jangle, that this debut LP is awash with the great guitar bands of the 60’s. Embracing Mersey Beat and America’s West Coast, the album passionately and masterfully channels a time when the California Sound and British Invasion soundtracked a generation.
It’s one thing to imitate, but to posses a notion, an identity, to have it run through your heart as The Roves do, is something entirely different. This is testament to the timeless quality of James Wing’s songwriting, sounding like a man ready for his place in history alongside Brian Wilson, Lennon/McCartney and never forgetting Dylan. So draw back the curtains and open your window. Take a long look outside. It’s summertime again.
